Hey Spellbinders,
You’ve likely noticed that the end of 2014 hit us mods hard and fast. Between homework and the holidays, work and play, we mods found it difficult to keep up with our writing in addition to the regular duties of a moderator. The beginning of 2015 hasn’t been all that kind to us either. Some of us have to return to school where much more of our time and energy is rightfully spent towards our grades. Of course, no group can sustain itself on mod activity alone. We hoped that in our respective absences that Spellbound activity would continue to flourish without us, but we found we were mistaken when the dashboard all but died. Naturally, we can hardly hold it against members for being inactive when we could barely meet a quota ourselves, but it’s become obvious to us moderators that something’s got to give.
Spellbound will be going on an indefinite hiatus. At press time, we cannot spare the time to give the group the near-constant attention it needs to flourish, and while this lull in activity is surely temporary, we feel it’s unfair to our members as well as to ourselves to maintain the structure of the group, when we currently don’t have the time and energy from ourselves and the community to brace that structure.
This is by no means a blanket rebuke! Some members have one out of their way to continue interacting with one another both in and out of character. We are so grateful to those people for their time and effort; it’s just that we have not been generating enough activity lately to continue to justify a structured group environment.
We recognize that this makes your characters effectively independent, for at least as long as our hiatus lasts. We apologize if this news comes as a shock to any of you, and we understand completely if you would no longer like to affiliate with Spellbound. However if you know that you would like to continue to be a member of Spellbound when the group comes off hiatus, please send the group page a message, and we will be in touch with you as soon as we reopen. (If not, you do not have to let us know.)
In this time you of course will not be expected to maintain full activity - do with your blogs as you please. Although, we do hope that the bonds of community that have already been established won’t be broken. Thank you for the time, enthusiasm, and love that continues to make Spellbound what it is, and thank you for your patience and understanding. We’ll see you soon!Love,
Mod Ariel and Mod Mulan
