Recently I got an anon who made me feel extremely uncomfortable. They were complimenting my writing, which was thoughtful of them; less thoughtful is that they complimented me at the expense of other Mulans. I’ve deleted the message, but am acknowledging it in this post because I want to make very clear how upset I am.

    This is not a competition. I’m here to write with other people, not against them.

    How dare you make a blanket statement about everybody who plays one muse? Everyone has something different to bring to a character. You cannot convince me otherwise. And I am happy to receive recognition for what I bring to Mulan–EXCEPT if you’re going to do it by tearing other people down.
