Audrey felt her cheeks set aflame, two different reactions battling inside her automatically. She had thought that this was okay, and he’d seemed alright with it until she touched him. Embarrassment and anger automatically battled for dominance as she stood there for a moment, hands suddenly empty. She had just told herself that she didn’t care if he rejected her, why did it feel like she cared?

She fumbled for a second and then her mind swapped to the defensive and she snorted, rolling her eyes and turning around. “Oh c’mon, it’s not like it’s a big deal. It was just a kiss, Ping. Not like I was going to take advantage of you or something.” She spat out quickly, covering up the embarrassment with the air of nonchalance.

Ping went hot and then cold, as if somebody had dumped two buckets of water over him, one right after the other.  "You already took advantage,“ he realized, though he only pointed it out simply.  "You already surprised me by kissing me - and I don’t want - ”  He took another small step back, and the short distance seemed longer than it was.  But because he didn’t want to be rude, and because Ping was aware of how odd the circumstances must seem, he sighed.  "I know I must sound very ridiculous and small to you right now, but - if a man stole a kiss from a woman, that would be to dishonor her.  Yet you can stand there…laughing at me.“

Of course, this only made real sense insofar as Audrey was probably stronger than Ping, and Ping was really a woman - but to explain himself to Audrey would be to lose everything.  At a loss for what else to do or say, Ping turned and fled.
