The Ballad which Disney’s movie is based off of is interchangably known as the Ballad of Hua Mulan or of Fa Mulan.  This is because - for those of you who aren’t aware - there are two widely-known dialects of the Chinese language, Mandarin and Cantonese.  Mulan’s family name in Cantonese would be pronounced more closely to Fa, but I’ve chosen to use her Mandarin name spelling, partly because Hua Ping is a funnier joke.
