Lottie kept walking, trying to keep herself calm. She didn’t like this. She didn’t even know if she would be able to speak to them to ask for help! She tapped her fingers against her suitcase handle. She couldn’t believe that her father would make her go to China by herself.

As she got closer to the camp, she felt a small ball in her stomach. This could either go terribly wrong, or everything would be okay. She looked down, trying to keep herself calm, until she heard someone’s voice. Her head shot up, her eyes wide as they could go. “I-I’m Charlotte La Bouff, I come from New Orleans.” She let go of her bag to point behind her.

She looked at his sword before looking back up at his face. “Please don’t hurt me. I’m a friend.” She smiled politely, trying to convince him to not point the sword at her any closer.

Ping blinked.  The woman was dressed from head to toe in shades of pink and purple - like a bride - and even in the dim light of camp torches, he could tell her hair wasn’t nearly as dark as anybody else’s.  But her strange appearance only made things more confusing.  He wasn’t going to hurt her, and she did seem like a harmless person, but how was Ping supposed to know that?  First, he needed more answers.  Resisting the urge to lower his sword (heavy as it was), Ping looked warily at Charlotte la Bouff.  "How do I know you’re a friend?  I’ve never even heard of New Orleans.  And that doesn’t explain - why are you here?“
